Plan
Team wanted to have 12 flavors ready in 6 months
-Team planned to create 2 new flavors every 3 weeks for 4 months
-Piggy back on that cadence with regular surveys to beta group
-Supplement with in kitchen testing as needed

Problem
Solution
Unfamiliar with methods to measure flavor
Worked with food scientist and read books to develop scale for survey
Team had trouble hitting deadlines for shipping sauce each round which made it difficult for participants to plan for feedback
Helped team create workback schedule to make sure we stayed on track
Team fell behind on production and needed to ship 4 sauces every 2 weeks
Recruited more beta participants to split into 2 groups
Survey
-Sent with each new sauce
-Combination of multiple choice and open ended
-Worked with food scientists and chefs to create a suitable for flavors
-Tagged open ended questions to find themes

Insights
“The image for the recipe is a bit confusing. It shows several bay leaves sticking out of the dish, but they are not part of the recipe.”

People felt like they missed something when their food didn’t look like the picture.
People were excited about using the product and found value in terms of convenience and giving ideas for what to eat
“It’s perfect for nights when I’m so busy during the day that I forget to plan dinner or when I’m too tired to labor over a sauce.”
As far as the convenience goes, it was fantastic. I used halibut, which turned out great at 131*F. I was able to put the fish in, run out of the house for an hour and come back to a great meal with almost no prep work!”
After Launch
Worked with engineers to automatically send surveys used to continue evaluating flavors and experience

Impact
Team had a good idea which flavors to launch with
-some flavors were adjusted before launch
-made improvements to app, bag, and packaging for launch
